Unusual Careers to Consider When You Don’t Know What to Do Next

Many people reach a point in their career when they’re unhappy with what they do for a living. You might start to think that you’re not going anywhere or perhaps you’ve realized that you don’t want to keep doing your current profession for the rest of your working life. But just because you know what you don’t want, it doesn’t mean that you know what you do want. If you feel at a loss for what to where to go next, you can try thinking outside of the box. When you’ve considered all the usual careers that you know of, start finding the unusual ones that you’ve never given a thought to before. Try some of the jobs below, some of which can get you an impressive salary.

Personal Shopper
A lot of women enjoy shopping, but do you enjoy it enough to do it for other people? To make it as a personal shopper you need to be able to do a bit more than track down a few bargains for yourself. If you love retail, you can make good money in this job, assuming you can get the right clients. Personal shoppers can work in-store for major brands, but the major money may be in working for yourself.

Funeral Director
You might find the idea of working with dead bodies appalling, but the funeral industry is always in demand. If the thought of having death as a part of your daily life doesn’t bother you, you can do quite well as a funeral director, mortician or embalmer. To work with bodies and prepare them for ceremonies, you need to attend a mortician school and get a degree in mortuary science. You could work for someone else or start your own business, providing services to people who need you to handle this sensitive event.

Food Taster
Most people find the idea of eating for a living an appealing one, especially if you get to spend all day eating chocolate or ice cream. Food production companies need people to try their products to make sure that they’re not only edible but that they taste great too. You could spend your days eating food or drinks and giving your opinion. If you an approach something objectively and you’re an opinionated person who loves food, this could be the job for you.

Body Part Model
Perhaps you’ve considered modeling at some point in your life, or perhaps not. But the catwalk and posing in your underwear aren’t the only ways you can model. Do you have perfect hands, or maybe stunning eyes? You don’t need to model with your whole body, when many advertising campaigns need people to do close-ups of individual body parts. You could advertise watches and bracelets with your slender wrists, engagement rings with your dainty hands or shoes with your beautiful feet. The job can pay quite well, just like other modeling careers, and you could even build a name for yourself in certain circles.
